3 tips for bonding church members

In 2015, I had to move. I was very excited about a change of scenery and wanted to discover a new community. Unfortunately, being shy and reserved, I had a hard time fitting into a Church. It is indisputable that the Churches are filling up, there are more and more people: Glory to God! However, it seems more and more difficult to form brotherly bonds.
The Bible says, "How pleasant, how sweet for brothers and sisters to stay together" (Psalm 133: 1). The Church is the place where we can meet people sharing our faith, these people according to the will of God are likely to become brothers, sisters and even powerful allies in our walk with God. This is why in this article I offer you three ways to foster fraternal bonds within your Church.

Establish routines

It is about establishing daily, weekly, monthly or even annual acts, actions or gestures, which involve all members of the Church. For example, this might mean offering a coffee break before and / or after worship. This moment of fellowship can be a way for some to break the ice and connect with other people.

This may seem trivial, but it turns out to be quite effective as the Church communicates about it and regularly invites Church members. It is true that, of course, Church elders are taken to stay after worship for a chat, but having a coffee corner with hospitality members can encourage new people to stay and connect with others. members of the Church.

Organize informal events

During the 2018 World Cup, my Church offered to watch the semi-final and then the final all together at the Church. Personally, I really appreciated this initiative. I still remember the fervor, the excitement and the passion that reigned in the four corners of France. Football and sports in general are a good way to bring crowds together whether playing games or just being a spectator. After the games, barbecues were offered: another good way to connect with other faithful around another common passion, that of food! Likewise, you can organize tournaments, dinners, outings and workshops in your churches which will act as team-building. Be creative!

Create groups of Interest

Finally, as I told you earlier, I personally had a lot of trouble fitting into a Church when I moved. This was a growing Church, which, like many others, offered , groups of houses . Unfortunately, they were almost all full. Those in charge of the youth group therefore set up interest groups . It was, as the name suggests, bringing young people together around common interests. Thus, groups "Dance", "Painting" "Sport" "Writing" but also "Prayer" "Biblical Study" "Reading" and so on were created and each member of the youth had the opportunity to register. in a group.

Within these groups we talked about our common passions, we practiced but above all we meditated and prayed together. These groups allowed the new young people to integrate quickly since they consisted of only five to ten people, to develop strong fraternal relationships and to deepen their knowledge of the word of God.I am convinced that this pattern can also work for an entire Church. Additionally, it helps to involve members in the life of the Church. So, if you create a "Pastry" group for example, members can cook for a special event, for coffee breaks, for evangelism sessions ...

There are still many ways to create or strengthen the bonds between the members of your Church. However, the most important thing is to let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit who will enlighten you on your church's relationship needs and how you can meet those needs.

Finally, let's remember that everything we do should be motivated by love for God and love for neighbor.

"May love inspire all your actions"
